The Széchenyi Zsigmond Hunting Association has been a defining presence in the hunting life of Gyoma since 1976. Our hunting grounds have remained largely unchanged over the past decades: they stretch along the left bank of the Hármas-Körös river, all the way to the Szarvas–Mezőberény main road, across roughly 8,400 hectares.
The true value of our territory lies in its rich small-game population, which our wildlife management and hunting activities are built around. Our main game species are roe deer, brown hare, and pheasant — of which pheasant offers our members the greatest number of hunting opportunities.
Pheasant rearing and paid hunting play a central role in the life of the association. Hunting these three main game species provides a significant share of our revenue, alongside the sale of pre-reared pheasants as another key income source.
The animal-rearing facility purchased in 2017 opened up new possibilities for our operations. It allows us to safely raise large numbers of pheasants, which we then release on our own hunting grounds. This infrastructure not only sustains our hunting opportunities but also forms an important foundation for the association's long-term, independent, and successful operation.
The hunting rights to our grounds continue to be exercised by our association under a 20-year lease agreement signed with the landowners in 2017. Our work is guided by respect for tradition, responsible wildlife management, and a commitment to the game population.
